Schools seeking donations in Rhode Island

East Providence School District

Ms. Lori-Ann Fox writes: The East Providence School District is an urban ring school district servicing over 5800 students. We have the largest high school in RI. Due to budgetary constraints and state aid to education being level funded, we are faced with not being able to purchase PCs for elementary, all day kindergarten and pre-K classrooms. Most computers are Windows 95/98 and cannot run many of the software applications that our students need, especially special education software. Many of our students receive free or reduced lunch. If not for the exposure to technology in the classroom, these students would not have the opportunity.

We are seeking Pentium 4 PCs (or higher), projectors, printers, and scanners. Please e-mail Ms. Fox, call 401 435-1948 or write: East Providence School District, Attention: Ms. Lori-Ann Fox, 145 Taunton Avenue, East Providence RI 02914

Roger Williams Middle School - seeking LCD projector

Jordan Cannady, English Teacher writes: I teach 7th Grade English and Intensive Literacy Intervention courses at Roger Williams Middle School in Providence, RI. (278 Thurbers Avenue, Providence, RI. 02905). Our school has a high percentage of students who qualify for free and reduced lunches. I am in need of a LCD projector to use with my computer for teaching my Language course, as the curriculum we use Language! utilizes many computer based functions that are only accessible via my computer and a projector. Also, a system such as this would allow my students to utilize several software programs I currently have, such as photo story 3 to create their own multimedia reports and projects for class presentation.
